Wow–somehow I managed to make it through 5 decades (I turned 50 yesterday) without realizing I shared a birthday with Noah Webster.
A little odd to put up a page out of Johnson’s dictionary in celebration of Noah Webster’s Dictionary Day. I mean, if Noah Webster stood for one thing it was the need for an independent American Dictionary being needed to replace reliance on Johnson’s British Dictionary.
Dr. Amsler, you’re right, but I didn’t have any photos of ancient copies of a Webster’s dictionary lying around. 🙂
